Final Painting Session

The group were very excited in the final session. Seeing all their hard work come to life on the walls gave the group a massive boost and they couldn’t wait to see their ideas finished.

The artists started by drawing the outline of the final art piece on the stair case.

Whilst the artists got the design into a position where the group could start colouring it in, the group started to create a new canvas each and made finishing touches to their work from the previous session.

Once the outline work was done, the young people took it in turns to contribute in colouring the dream tree to truly making it their own.

It very quickly came to life with vibrant colours.

The group really liked the idea of having squirrels spray painted in different areas of the building, they turned out great!

The session was in full effect by this point with everybody contributing so much and really giving it everything they had to make sure their work was something they could be proud of.

Today we spray painted!

The teenage room is complete!

We all worked together to make an honest piece of work.

It looks amazing and is a real reflection of all the people that made this possible. ‘Inspired youth’ totally describes what this project is all about.

Shout out to Kieth, Kritikal, Zoe, Joy and Gemma!

Great day today,

Mookinator 🙂

Shelly – Mural Session 1

The project is really coming together, we worked on the teen room and shed today! It worked really well when we split of into groups and worked on different parts of the wall with the artists. I really enjoyed it and I am very pleased with the result!

Unleash The Paint – Mural Painting Part 1

IMG_7850

This was the session that all the groups hard work finally started to come to fruition. All the brainstorming and ideas development had helped the team create some fantastic visuals. The artists GX2 and CBLOXX came back to the project prepared for a day of painting and full of passion with all the tools and paint needed for the job. This was the day the group’s ideas would start to come to life!!

IMG_7997

Before we got going we had a group discussion about safety and talked about everyone should behave. They wrote a new contract of respect and everyone signed up to say they agreed to stay safe and have fun! It was important that we had to wear protective masks to cover our mouths when painting and it was agreed we needed to have a professional attitude when using the aerosols. The group all agreed and it was time to set to work on the mural’s…

IMG_7814

While the group were discussing the contract of respect the artists used projectors to outline the mural onto the wall ready for the group to paint.

IMG_7804

After the artists had reminded the group about keeping safe with the paint CBLOXX showed the group some spray techniques and how to use the paint effectively. We would start the arts explosion in the teenager room upstairs.

IMG_7857

There was a really positive creative atmosphere and everyone was excited about getting to work on the mural.

IMG_7889

The group were really focused and took a really professional approach to the work. It was fun working with the artists and the group learnt loads of new skills and worked very well as a team. They were starting to grow in confidence and it was great to see them being creative!!! Everyone got involved…IMG_7962

IMG_7965

The painting started to slowly come to life.

IMG_7969

It was great seeing the ideas coming alive!!! We even got out the artwork from the previous session to remind ourselves of the ideas we had for colours.

Next GX2 took some of the group into the garden to start work on the shed! She reminded them of the concept; rainbow rain with squirrels holding umbrellas!! CBLOXX stayed upstairs to work on the mural in the teenager room.

First GX2 Gemma showed the group the techniques they would need to create the rain effect. They listened carefully…

But then it was time to unleash the colours…

Arts4Care – Concepts Explode into Life

The 4th session brought the group back together with the Artists, who had returned to the project to pitch the final concepts to the group. They had taken all the brainstormed concepts that were generated at the previous session and were briefed to stay true to the groups ideas. First some of the group re-capped on the ideas the Artists had left with before they began to present the ideas. Below are the designs for the stairwell and the teenager room:

IMG_7135

The Artists’ artwork was something special and all the group liked what they saw. Everyone was happy about the final concepts so the next stage was to start to explore colour schemes within the designs. The Artists brought print outs of the artwork and the group set to work.IMG_7153

IMG_7132

It was important that the artists knew which colours the group liked for each design so they could order the paint in advance. The group really enjoyed bringing the concepts to life with colour. It was a very successful session and everyone was getting creative and joining in.

IMG_7237

IMG_7239

There was colour everywhere! Some of the group used pastels and some crayons, others felt tip pens.IMG_7301

The project is starting to get really exciting, the next stage is the actual painting and the group are really looking forward to it.

Jazz – The Project So far

IMG_6455

So far on the arts4care project we have written up a contract of respect, explored all the different rooms, created a character, spoken to the artists, ‘stacked amo’ (aka a bank of words) and heard KRITIKAL rap.

I have enjoyed the session on rapping and song writing the most so far because I really like music and song writing.

The wall mural designs are amazing I wouldnt change anything about them!

I am very much looking forward to painting our mural now!!!
